Protect Your Heart: Stop Eating This One Food Immediately

Just one small change in your eating habits could make a big difference for your heart's health. Currently, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Over 600,000 people in the U.S die each year from heart disease. That's roughly one out of four deaths. But heart disease is preventable.

Avoid Sugar - Avoid Heart Disease

Recent studies have found that sugar is a major contributor to heart disease. A study conducted over 15 years found that people who consumed more than 25% of their caloric intake as sugar, are twice more likely to die from heart disease. This is compared to those who limited their sugar intake to less than 10% of their daily consumption.

Most people already know that eating candies and dessert every day is going to be damaging to their health, but many people might not realize just how much sugar is hiding in something "healthy" they consume.

The Culprit: Fruit Juice

But wait! Fruit juice is all natural, even organic! All that might be true, and yes, it's not as harmful as other sugary drinks might be, but it's still chock-full of sugar.

A single serving of juice can have as much as 36 grams of sugar. That's almost 100% of the daily recommended intake for men, and well over the recommended daily intake for women.

What To Drink Instead

Just because fruit juice is bad for us doesn't mean plain, boring, water is the only alternative.

Other fun beverage choices include unsweetened flavored sparkling water, unsweetened iced tea, water infused with fruit, or even water with a splash of juice. Since the juice is so diluted, it's much better for the body and you can still enjoy a hint of your favorite fruity flavor.

So go ahead and say goodbye to regular fruit juice consumption. Your heart will thank you for it.
