Should Humans NOT Eat Grains?
It's a common belief that grains are good for you but there are some reasons that you may want to actually avoid eating them. Grains are present in many common food items such as cereal, pasta, baked products, and more. While there is evidence for both eating grains and avoiding them, let's take a look at a couple of reasons why you may want to avoid them.
1. Some People Are Intolerant of Grains
There are people who have a food intolerance to certain types of grains such as rye, oats, barley, and even corn. If you find that you don't feel well after eating grains, it is best to avoid them altogether. Yet, if you feel fine after consuming them, avoiding them is likely a waste of time.
2. Whether You Consume Grains Or Not, It Says Nothing About Your Overall Health
You can still be completely healthy and in shape whether you eat grains or not. There is no link between eating grains and poor health.
3. Grains Can Contain Toxins
There are many foods out there that may contain toxins and grains are no different. Yet, the real issue is how many toxins are present in the foods you eat. Toxins in most grains are not at a level that can affect your health.
4. Our Ancestors Likely Consumed Grains
While it is a common belief that our ancestors did not consume grains, it is likely that they did, on some level. And, it is important to note that just because people didn't eat something in the past, there is nothing wrong with consuming it now.
5. You May Be More Likely To Eat Fruits And Vegetables If You Aren't Eating Grains
This can be true for one person and not for another. Just because you are not eating grains doesn't necessarily mean that you will consume more healthy foods.
Just like with anything else, there are pros and cons to eating grains. It is a personal choice that at the end of the day, only you can make.
